About NRR

in About

Welcome to the Norwich Road Runners, one of Norfolk's largest dedicated running clubs. Based in Norwich, the club has more than 600 members, which is growing all the time, as well as a developing Junior's section. We cater for all ages and abilities - from those who can win races, to those who have only just started running. We're a large, friendly community who come together to develop their running, participate in races and activities as a club, and make new friends.

For seniors (17 and above) we hold three sessions per week - beginners sessions on Mondays, effort sessions on Tuesdays, and road running sessions on Thursdays. All events are designed so that all members can take part at a level of speed and pace that they are comfortable with.

For juniors, we hold two sessions per week, on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings.

We have an active role in the local running community. We host three different events each year, which are highlights in the running calendar. We host the Ringland Half Marathon in March, the Wroxham 5k Series in the summer, and the Horsford Cross Country Series over the Winter months. We also participate in the Athletics Norfolk Road Running Committee, where we come together with other clubs from across Norfolk and work towards furthering running in the county.

The club attends major events. The club organises transport and pays for entry into a number of national cross country events, such as the Southern XC's at Parliament Hills and Donnington Park XC's, over the winter months. These are available to all members who wish to participate in them. We also field a large amount of teams in the Round Norfolk Relay, a 17 stage team event around the border of Norfolk, and organise transport to other races where there is a substantial amount of interest from club members.

We're much more than a running club. In fact we have a dedicated social committee who organise a large amount of events, available for all members. From trips abroad (more than 50 runners went to Amsterdam in 2015 for the Marathon, Half Marathon and 8k), to Quiz and Chip nights, meals, and the all important Christmas party, the club does so much more than just run. There's always something else going on at the club - have a look in our 'News' section or on our Facebook Group, where our members are very active.

We are here when you are. We have members who train with us three times a week. We have members who never train with the club. If you are looking for a place to regularly train, or a club to join and be part of when you're not busy elsewhere, you can use the facilities of the club as best suits. You don't have to attend every session, and you can even not attend at all, if that works best for you.

We hope you like reading about us, and if you are interested in joining us, please see 'Joining the Club' or contact us at contact@norwichroadrunners.com, or our Frequently Asked Questions.
